I went through the planning of this animation similar to the quadruped walk. I started off by finding 3 birds to reference and draw sketch out the birds using the basic foundation and building them up to develop the full bird. I sketched out a peregrine falcon, heron and kingfisher. I chose these bird as they are very unique and different birds. I liked drawing them all and I thought they were all interesting and unique, but I ended up choosing the heron as the heron seemed like a very unique bird with a unique flying motion. It seemed like a challenge, but a good one that would be great to animate.
so for the timeline, I worked on the framing and timeline of the heron animation. the framing helped a lot when I was working on the final animation as it helped me plan out and understand the flying animation. I think that the timeline is really helpful, but I could have done more solid drawings as the heron neck was a tough part to tackle and would have been great for developing the animation of the flying.
for the final animation, I ended up developing the basic frameworks of the shapes of the bird before finally developing the final animation. this was so that it was easier to develop the final animation without error. I then proceeded to overlay the final animation on top. I personally think that the final animation was really good except for the neck. the is jittering in the neck due to the lack of solid drawing. I could have planned it better and need to do some solid drawing work beforehand as the Herons due to having a long neck and use them during the flight which was quite difficult. Other than the neck everything else was pretty fine. The animation was nice and smooth and I like the pencil sketch style of it. I could have added more details maybe to make it look a touch nicer as well. all and all not too bad and need to be more careful with the neck.
