For this exercise, I did 5 pages worth of gestural drawing from multiple dance videos. for this, I solely used pencil so I could get more precise and less rough gestures so they were easier to read. I watched the dance videos and twice and drew what I saw as quick as possible to get the gesture of the person down. This task was more orientated towards capturing the pose as accurately as possible rather than the form of the person in the pose. I use the line of action to help.
At the beginning of the gestural drawings from dance videos, I found it very hard to capture the poses down quickly and found it hard to line up for the next one, but when I got to the third page I started finding it easier. the first 2 were very rushed and panicky, but 3 and onward were more coherent. page 3 and onwards all have a relatively nice flow to them as you can see the gestures and tell at points as to where one flows into another. The technique that I used to capture this is rather than trying to capture every point I see I proceeded to remember key points n the dance and draw them as clearly as I remember. I did have an issue with how quick I was drawing and remember all the poses while drawing and watching the video. I missed some pose out shamefully, however, I did learn in my sketchbook reportage on how to fix that by doing less scratchy and precise lines like I did and create a singular flowy line as it makes it look better, as well as captures the pose quickly allowing me to follow on to the next.
In conclusion, page 1 and 2 could be better and the lines are a bit scratchy that makes it harder to read, but I manage to get a nice flow on 3 to 5 and capture some good, key poses and learnt how to do them better.
