Drawing With Light

for this exercise, I drew using the light areas on the person in the pose. To do this I used a black piece of paper and used a white crayon as my material. the aim to capture the person in the pose using only the light areas.

to do this I measured different parts of the body to the head and positioned them in line with other parts of the body to get the positioning and the proportion of the body parts. then I used the crayon to try and create the lighting on the person. For more intense lighting I pressed down hard and lighter areas I pressed down lighter. I used the intensity of the lighting to help create the form and depth within the drawing. I also made sure to effectively use the empty space to separate different body parts and to help emphasise the form o help create the shape of the person body

for the analysis of the drawing, I think that I have done well with the material that I used. The crayon wasn’t the most effective material as you cannot get a nice smooth spool of light and creating intensity is difficult. there are slight proportional issues with the arms and I think that I could have done this better if I shortened the arms and hunch him over a bit more. The use of the lighting and dark space and the intensity really help emphasise the form and capture the pose well. I just got the proportions off with the arms in the pose. great improvement and getting better.
