This animal jumping animation I used a front perspective and anticipation to create this loop of a cat jumping.

I started off doing some thumbnail sketches of the animal jumping. I think that thumbnail came along well and was quite proportionally well-drawn and had a nice character to them. I do think that I could have drawn more to gain more familiarity with the cat draw and I could have drawn more cat and made it more round and simplistic to make it easier to animate the cat.

 

For the Animal jumping animation, I did a simple squash and stretch technique of an animal jumping at the camera and added some secondary action to it. The animation was done in Animate and I did it via pose to pose drawings. The animation is of a cat jumping and then proceeding to slip and return back into position. In this animation, I used techniques such as squash and stretch, secondary action, follow-through and did it pose-to-pose. The animation also contains slow in and out for when the cat is jump and arcs when it jumps as well.

The challenges that I faced when designing this animation was when I was drawing in Animate I faced with a problem of the line getting wonky making it harder to draw the frames. I actually found out that the two factors that can make line art wonky is being zoomed in and line size. So I zoomed out to reduce wonkiness (I don’t know if this varies between Graphics tablets as well). Also, another issue I faced is the quickness of the animation all that I have to do is increase the number of frames. I think that this all could improve with more solid drawing and then maybe some more frames to clean it up a bit, however, I do think this has gone well as it’s displayed a good use of perspective and it is quite smooth for the most part except for it could use a little more frames for the cat getting off the ground so that you can see it better. I could use more emphasis on the cat pulling itself back into position.

I think that the animation could still use some improvements at this point, but overall is fitting and works well as an animal jumping.
